On their journey to the Pacific
Ocean, the Corps of Discovery canoed through a land of rolling hills within
the deep canyons of the Snake River in current-day southeastern Washington
and northeastern Oregon. Hells Canyon, the deepest river gorge in North
America, and the lofty Blue and Wallowa mountain ranges sit nearby. Hills
and farmland stretch to the north and wheat fields roll out toward the
west. Explore and discover this untamed region that is a haven for abundant
plants, wildlife and adventurers.
